Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen will speak at the joint opening session of the 101st National Convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the 87th National Convention of the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW, Monday, Aug. 21 at 9 a.m. CDT. The convention will be held at the Midwest Express Center, Hall AB, 400 West Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, Wis.
Cohen will speak about the need for the United States to remain engaged in the world and to continue transforming our military in the face of new global threats.
Later that afternoon at 2:45 p.m., Cohen will accompany his wife, Janet Langhart Cohen, who will receive a VFW award for her commitment to enhancing quality of life for deployed servicemembers. Cohen will speak at the ceremony and recognize the Wisconsin Medal of Honor recipients in attendance.
