Secretary Cohen at SOUTHCOM Change of Command
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen will speak at the U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) change of command ceremony at 6 p.m., Friday Sept. 8, 2000, at the U.S. Southern Command headquarters parade field. Marine Gen. Peter Pace will assume command from Marine Gen. Charles Wilhelm as commander in chief, U.S. Southern Command.
There will be no media availability following the event. Media interested in covering the ceremony must confirm attendance by calling (305) 437-1210/1202 or 1209, and must arrive at the SOUTHCOM East Gate not later than 5 p.m. on Sept. 8.
