The Navy will hold the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Model Education Center at the Navy College Office at 10:30 a.m. EST, Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana, in Virginia Beach, Va. Vice Adm. John W. Craine Jr., chief of Naval Education and Training, will deliver the keynote remarks.
Located at each major shore installation and forming the backbone of the Navy College Program organization, Navy College Offices advise sailors on how to complete high school diplomas, work on a technical or occupational certificates, improve academic skills in reading, math, and English, and earn a college degree.
The Model Education Center, designed as a one-stop shopping opportunity for sailors seeking to pursue their educational goals, houses the Navy College Office, the Navy College Learning Center, the testing center, institutional representatives, state-of-the-art computer laboratories, classrooms, and the station library.
