Guard's 364th Birthday Celebrated Tomorrow
Lt. Gen. Russell C. Davis, chief, National Guard Bureau, will host a celebration recognizing the Guard's 364th birthday tomorrow, Dec. 13, at 4:30 p.m. EST at the Hilton Crystal City Hotel, Arlington, Va.
The event commemorates the formation of the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1636. This first muster lead to the birth of permanent militia regiments in colonial America - the beginning of the state-organized defense forces known today as the National Guard -- a part of the Department of Defense's Total Force.
The ceremony will be followed by a reception co-hosted by the National Guard Association of the United States. The event is open to the media. For more information, contact National Guard Bureau Public Affairs media desk at (703) 607-2611.
