Army to Host Rapid Equipping Force Briefing

            The United States Army will host a Pentagon press briefing and technology demonstration Friday, Aug. 12, at 1 p.m. EDT in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E579.  The briefing will highlight the Rapid Equipping Force and some of the latest portable military technologies soldiers are using in the Global War on Terrorism. 

 

            Rapid Equipping Force Director Col. Gregory N. Tubbs and his staff will demonstrate some of these new technologies, including: the highly portable Tactical Mini Air Vehicle mini-airplane; the Throwbot (a soda-can-sized robot with a transmitter and camera to aid soldiers in quickly gathering more information about their immediate environment); Multi-Function Agile Remote-Controlled Robot known as MARCBOT (a small robot on four wheels that has a video camera lens for eyes); and other small items.  The demonstration will show how the equipment works and how soldiers employ it on the battlefield.
