Joint Services Full Honors Ceremony for Chief of the General Staff, Republic of Poland
Gen. Henry H. Shelton, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will host a joint Services full honors ceremony at the Pentagon River Plaza Parade Field at 3 p.m. (EST), Thursday, January 7, 1999, for Lt. Gen. Henryk Szumski, chief of the general staff, Republic of Poland.
Szumski arrived in the United States on January 3 for a seven-day visit as the guest of Shelton. During that time, Szumski visited San Diego, Calif.; Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.; and Fort Hood, Texas. While in Washington, D.C., he will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery at 9 a.m., and will also present a memento at the cemetery archives. Prior to returning to Poland, he will make a stopover in Chicago, Ill.
