Secretary Cohen to visit the Joint Readiness Training Center and Ft. Polk, La.

Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen is scheduled to visit the Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk, La., on Monday, May 17, 1999, from 7 - 9 a.m. (CDT). While at Fort Polk, Cohen will hold a media availability at 8:55 a.m. at the Jetertown Training Site. After the Fort Polk visit, Cohen will participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the U.S. Navy Information Technology Center, 2251 Lakeshore Drive, New Orleans, La. The program begins at 11:20 a.m. (CDT), and the Secretary will speak at 11:45 a.m. The event is open to media coverage. News representatives desiring to attend the ceremony may call Lt. Later on Monday, Cohen will speak at the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce "Salute to the Military" luncheon at the Fairmont Hotel, Imperial Ballroom, 123 Baronne Street, New Orleans, La. The luncheon begins at 12:30 p.m. (CDT), with remarks by Cohen at 1:15 p.m. The event is open to media coverage. The Secretary will hold a media availability following the luncheon at 2 p.m. in the Fairmont Hotel. The Secretary also will visit the University of New Orleans Eisenhower Center, Gallier Hall, Grand Ballroom, 545 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA, for an address to the academic community.
