President Clinton will visit the Pentagon to sign the National Defense Authorization Act FY 2000 on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999 at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Henry H. Shelton, U.S. Army, and Army Sgt. Maj. Robert E. Hall will take part in the ceremony.
Prior to the event, two senior defense officials will conduct a background briefing on the National Defense Authorization Act FY 2000 at 10 a.m. EDT in the Pentagon Briefing Room, Room 2E781. This briefing will highlight key personnel and modernization aspects in the legislation.
The signing ceremony will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance. Media equipment must preset no later than 1 p.m. EDT.
