The following media availabilities will be conducted at Peterson AFB, Colo. on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999:
The Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center will be made available to media at 10 a.m. MST. Tours and missile warning demonstrations will be provided. U.S. military officers will also be available to provide background on the centers and explain their missions and operations.
The Center for Year 2000 Strategic Stability (CY2KSS) will be available to media from 2 p.m.- 3:30 p.m.
A delegation of approximately 20 Russian officers will return to Peterson AFB, Colo. in late December to work with U.S. officers in operating the CY2KSS through the Y2K rollover period.
Media representatives interested in attending these availabilities should contact U.S. Space Command Public Affairs no later than Nov. 4, 1999. Media should arrive at the respective visitor centers at Cheyenne Mountain and Peterson AFB no later than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start times for the respective tours. Detailed equipment lists are required and must be provided to U.S. Space Command Public Affairs prior to entry to either center.
This is a change to an earlier press advisory and is being made to accommodate media that have expressed interest in visiting the Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center as well as the CY2KSS.
