Gen. Shelton's Trip to Belgium and Russia
Gen. Henry H. Shelton, U.S. Army, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will depart Andrews Air Force Base, Md., on Wed., June 10, 1998, for a trip to Belgium and Russia.
In Brussels, he will participate in the North Atlantic Council - Defence Ministers meetings on June 11-13.
On Sunday, June 14, the chairman will travel to Russia where he will be the guest of his counterpart, General of the Army Anatoliy Vasilyevich Kvashnin, chief of the general staff of the armed forces and first deputy minister of defense of the Russian Federation. The next day, Monday, June 15, he will participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and in a media availability at the Russian Ministry of Defense. Late afternoon, he is scheduled to address the Military Academy of the General Staff. During the visit, Shelton will also meet with senior Russian military leaders and visit military facilities, installations and units.
Shelton will return to Washington, D.C. on June 19.
