The Department of Defense on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 11 a.m. EST will honor eight environmental experts with "Project of the Year" awards for identifying and demonstrating new approaches that will help the military improve its environmental stewardship. Alex A. Beehler, assistant deputy under secretary of defense for environment, safety and occupational health, will announce the recipients and present the awards during the Partners in Environmental Technology Symposium and Workshop. The workshop is being held Nov. 30—Dec. 2 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, 2660 Woodley Rd., Washington, D. C.
The Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) and the Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) host the Partners in Environmental Technology Symposium and Workshop jointly. SERDP is DoD's environmental research and development project, which is planned and implemented with the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency. ESTCP's mission is to identify, demonstrate and transfer new technologies that address the department's environmental issues.
