Acquisition Reform Week is a defense-wide effort to promote
and effect discussions between local industry and Department of
Defense acquisition workforce on strategies to improve
application of reform initiatives in their daily operations.
The Packard Award is named in honor of the late David
Packard, a former deputy secretary of Defense during the Nixon
administration. He was also the founder and chairman of the
Hewlett-Packard Company and chairman of the Presidential
Commission on Defense Management chartered by President Ronald
Reagan in 1985. The awards are intended to recognize acquisition
programs that achieve excellence through the use of innovative
team techniques first advocated by Packard.
News media are invited to attend the ceremony. Point of
contact is Lt. Col. Joan Ferguson, Directorate for Defense
