The Pentagon Press Briefing for Tuesday, June 3, 1997 is
canceled and will be replaced by several media activities planned
for the day, including arrival ceremonies, a joint press
conference and a background briefing.
Events begin when Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen
hosts an honor cordon to welcome Minister of Defense Tit Turnsek,
of the Republic of Slovenia, to the Pentagon at 10:30 a.m. (EDT).
The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River
Entrance. There will be a media availability immediately
following the cordon.
Media must be at the River Entrance no later than 10:10 a.m.
(EDT).
Secretary Cohen will host another honor cordon to welcome
Secretary of State for Defense George Robertson, of the United
Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Pentagon at
noon on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance.
Media interested in audiovisual coverage of this honor
cordon must be at the River Entrance no later than 11:40 a.m.
(EDT).
In lieu of a media availability following the cordon,
Secretary Cohen and Secretary Robertson will conduct a joint
press conference at 1:45 p.m. (EDT) in the Pentagon Briefing
Studio, Room 2E781.
