Briefing by Dr. Rostker Moved to 1:30 p.m. (EDT), Regular Pentagon Press Briefing to Follow
The briefing on the results of the recent G-3/S-3 Conference by Bernard Rostker, special assistant for Gulf War illnesses, previously scheduled to follow the 1:30 p.m. (EDT), Thursday, June 26, 1997, regularly scheduled DoD press briefing, will now precede the DoD briefing. Dr. Rostker will begin his update at 1:30 p.m. The DoD briefing, which will begin after Dr. Rostker's briefing at about 2 p.m. (EDT).
Beginning at noon, advance copies of the DoD report concerning the April 4 incident involving the Russian merchant vessel Kapitan Mann in which an American liaison officer aboard a Canadian helicopter photographing the vessel sustained injuries that appear to be consistent with those attributable to a laser will be available in the Directorate for Defense Information, Room 2E765, the Pentagon, under a 2 p.m. (EDT) embargo. Copies of the photo showing the red "dot" on the bridge of the Kapitan Mann will also be available under the same embargo terms.
