A senior defense official will provide an embargoed background briefing explaining how investigations are conducted into intelligence activities on Wednesday, Aug. 25, at 9 a.m. EDT, Pentagon Room 2E407.
This briefing will also provide an overview of how the various investigations/inspections involved fit together to cover detention operation issues. It will not cover any specifics relating to the Army's investigation into military intelligence activities at Abu Ghraib. Those results will be released at 1:30 p.m. via a Pentagon press conference. The embargo is lifted once the press conference begins.
Interested media representatives should contact Lt. Col. Jerry Healy at (703) 614-2487 to reserve a seat. Addtionally, journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the North Parking Entrance only. Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification. Please call (703) 692-2000 for escort into the building.
