National POW/MIA Recognition Day
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen will host an armed forces full honors ceremony for National POW/MIA Recognition Day at the Pentagon, 11 a.m. (EDT), Friday, Sept. 19, 1997.
Sen. John McCain will be the guest speaker.
In 1967, while flying a U.S. Navy A-4 Skyhawk, he was shot down over Hanoi.
He was a prisoner of war in Vietnam for five and a half years (1967-73).
The ceremony will be held on the River Parade Field of the Pentagon.
Media must be at the River Parade Field no later than 10:40 a.m.
