Gen. Shelton, chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff visits Belgium, Italy, and Bosnia
Gen. Henry H. Shelton, U.S. Army, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will depart Andrews Air Force Base, Md., on Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997, for visits to Belgium, Italy, and Bosnia.
On Monday, Dec. 1, 1997, the chairman will participate in NATO Military Committee meetings at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. On Dec. 2 and 3, 1997, he will join Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen for ministerial meetings and discussions about NATO issues. Shelton will meet with his military counterparts for additional Military Committee meetings on Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997.
The chairman will depart for Italy on Friday, Dec. 5, 1997, for command updates and facility tours of U.S. and allied tactical forces at Aviano, Italy, and the Southern European Task Force in Vicenza, Italy.
In Bosnia, Gen. Shelton will meet with Stabilization Force commanders and other officials in Saravejo on Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997. He continues on to Tuzla and Bosnia for visits with U.S. troops before returning to Washington, D.C., that evening.
