Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology Paul G. Kaminski will
accept the first production E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System
aircraft, Friday, March 22, at the Northrop Grumman facility in Melbourne,
Fla., at ceremonies beginning at 1 p.m. (EST). Northrop Grumman
Chairman, President and CEO Ken Kresa will lead the ceremony. Also attending
are Under Secretary of the Air Force Rudy de Leon and Principal Deputy
Assistant Secretary for Acquisition and Management Darleen A. Druyun.
Joint STARS is an airborne command and control and battle management system
that provides commanders with real time tracking and targeting of ground and
slow-moving airborne targets. The aircraft is a modified Boeing 707 that
includes 17 workstations and a phased-array radar antenna.
