SecDef Perry will kick off Public Service Recognition Week on May 6th.

Secretary of Defense William J. Perry will kick off Public Service Recognition Week on May 6th, 1996, at 2:00 p.m. in Room 5A1070, with a Pentagon Ceremony to honor public servants.

DoD civilians are our partners in defense, and this event is a great opportunity to point that out, Secretary Perry said. The Pentagon ceremony will also recognize the contributions of our men and women in the Armed Forces.

Joining Secretary Perry at the opening ceremony will include Secretary of the Army, Togo West; Secretary of the Air Force, Dr. Sheila Widnall; Under Secretary of the Navy, Richard Danzig; and the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Joseph Ralston. The event will be hosted by Mr. David O. Cooke, Director, Administration and Management.

Public Service Recognition Week honors the hard work of Americans who have chosen a career in public service. As part of the observance of DoD civil servants, the Department will display military hardware, equipment and exhibits of the major defense agencies on the National Mall across from the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., May 9 - 12.
