Joint Services Full Honors ceremony for arrival of General Shigeru Sugiyama, chairman, Joint Staff Council, Japan
General John M. Shalikashvili, chairman of the Joint Chiefs
of Staff, will host a Joint Services Full Honors ceremony at
Whipple Field, Fort Myer, Virginia, at 9 a.m., June 6, 1996, for
the arrival of General Shigeru Sugiyama, chairman, Joint Staff
Council, Japan.
General Sugiyama arrived in the United States on Saturday,
June 1, for a seven-day visit as the guest of General
Shalikashvili. While in the United States, he has toured
military facilities in Colorado, North Carolina, and Virginia.
General Sugiyama will be in Washington, D.C. on June 5-7 and will
meet with US defense officials and participate in a wreath-laying
ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns, Arlington National
Cemetery, at 3:40 p.m. on June 6. The visit concludes on June 7.
