DoD plans to honor the two millionth person taking a public tour of the Pentagon
The Department of Defense plans to honor the two millionth
person taking a public tour of the Pentagon on Tuesday, June 18,
1996 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., which is the
estimated timeframe the person will arrive at the tour sign-up
window.
The two millionth visitor to the Pentagon will be officially
welcomed during a ceremony scheduled to be held in the DoD
Briefing Studio, room 2E781. The honoree will be presented with
several mementos recognizing the occasion and will be given a
special VIP tour of the Pentagon that will include a short stop
by the office of Secretary of Defense William J. Perry.
The Pentagon's public tour program began in 1976 as part of
the nation's Bicentennial celebration. The one millionth visitor
was recognized in July 1987.
