First U.S. Soldier Injured in Bosnia to Carry Olympic Torch to the White House
Spc. Martin Begosh, the first U.S. soldier injured in
Bosnia, will carry the Olympic Torch to the White House at
approximately 9:53 p.m. (EDT) today. Begosh will receive the
torch at 17th and G Streets NW, Washington, D.C.
Begosh is one of eight metropolitan Washington, D.C.
Torchbearers selected for this special honor. Begosh, who
received the Purple Heart for his injuries in Bosnia, was
nominated by his friend, Charles Cleary, and his father, Andy
Begosh.
Begosh, a native of Rockville, Md., is currently on Army
convalescent leave. He is assigned to the Medical Hold Company
at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
