The U. S. Army will honor its "Communities of Excellence" in a Pentagon
ceremony on May 11, 1995. Army Chief of Staff General Gordon R. Sullivan will
host the 3 p.m. ceremony, which will take place on the lower parade field at
the Pentagon River Entrance. A photo opportunity and reception will follow the
ceremony.
The Army Communities of Excellence program promotes excellence in services and
facilities for soldiers, civilians, and family members at Army installations.
Thirty-nine communities of the Active Army, Army Reserve, and Army National
Guard will be recognized as "Communities of Excellence." Delegations from a
number of the winning communities will be present at the ceremony.
Awards will be presented by General Sullivan; Robert M. Walker, Assistant
Secretary of the Army, Installations, Logistics, and Environment; and Sergeant
Major of the Army Richard A. Kidd. Communities that receive monetary awards
will use the money to further improve their installations.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will take place in the
Pentagon Auditorium, Room 5A1070.
