General John M. Shalikashvili, USA, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff,
will depart Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, on Thursday, May 18, 1995 for
Germany, Georgia and Ukraine.
While in Germany the Chairman will travel to Heidelberg for meetings with U.S.
military officials. On Sunday, May 21, General Shalikashvili will receive the
Federation of German-American Clubs' 1995 Lucius D. Clay Award at 11 a.m. in
Würzburg, Germany. He will meet with the press immediately following the

General Shalikashvili arrives in Tbilisi, Georgia, on Sunday evening, May 21.
On Monday, he will consult with the U.S. Ambassador and host government
officials to discuss regional and bilateral issues. At 7:20 p.m., General
Shalikashvili will hold a press conference at the Pioneer Palace in Tbilisi.
On Wednesday, May 24, General Shalikashvili will depart Tbilisi for Lvov,
Ukraine, where he will meet with Ukrainian military and government officials.
He will observe exercise Peace Shield `95 and participate in a press
availability while in Lvov. General Shalikashvili returns to Andrews Air Force
Base, Maryland, late Wednesday evening.
