Secretary of the Air Force Sheila E. Widnall will announce the contractwinners of the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) Low Cost ConceptValidation, Thursday,
August 24, 1995, at 5 p.m. (EDT) in the DoD Studio, room 2E781, The Pentagon.The EELV is a key part of the Department of Defense's Implementation Plan forthe President's Policy on Space Transportation.
The program will use existingtechnology to develop a family of expendable launch vehicles capable ofreplacing the current medium-and heavy-space lift fleet.
The low cost conceptvalidation contract awards of up to $120 million are part of the overall $2billion program.
