Department of Defense Director of Administration and Management Raymond F. DuBois will host the unveiling of a poster designed by artist Peter Max at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2. The unveiling will take place at the future site of the Pentagon Memorial located on the west side of the Pentagon near the attack site. The poster will be sold nationally with a portion of proceeds going to benefit the Pentagon Memorial Fund.
After viewing restoration efforts at the Pentagon last October, Max was compelled to design the poster to help raise money for the memorial. Nationally known as “America’s artist laureate,” Max creates patriotic artwork, including the Statue of Liberty and presidential portraits. He created a series of posters to raise money for the September 11th Victims Fund.
Joining Max at the unveiling will be Pentagon Memorial designers Keith Kaseman and Julie Beckman, AT&T representative Rosemary O’Brien, Pentagon Memorial Fund president Jim Laychak and family members of those lost in the attack.
The event is open to the media. There will be a media availability with DuBois and Max immediately following the unveiling. The press contact for this event is George Jackson, (703) 614-1771, e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org .
