The Department of Defense Director of Administration and Management Raymond F. DuBois will kick off a fundraising campaign organized by volunteer DoD employees in support of the Pentagon 9-11 Memorial. The event, which is open for media coverage, will be held in the Pentagon’s Center Courtyard, Monday, July 21, at noon.
The fundraiser, sponsored by the DoD Personnel Pentagon Memorial Organization, a voluntary association composed of DoD civilian and military personnel and their dependents, will run from July 21 to August 8, 2003, targeting DoD military and civilian personnel in the National Capitol Region. The Secretary of Defense approved the employee group’s request for a special solicitation campaign by and among DoD personnel in a memo dated July 18.
The Pentagon Memorial will be constructed entirely from private contributions. The Department is authorized to accept private donations specifically for the purpose of the establishment of the memorial honoring those lost in the attack on the Pentagon.
