The Department of Defense announced today recipients of the 18th Annual Secretary of Defense Community Drug Awareness Award. Recipients are:
U.S. Army -- III Corps and Fort Hood Army Substance Abuse Program, Fort Hood, Texas.
U.S. Marine Corps -- Drug Demand Reduction Program, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C.
U.S. Navy -- Department of the Navy, Drug Education for Youth, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic, Norfolk, Va.
U.S. Air Force -- Drug Demand Reduction Program, 319th Air Refueling Wing, Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D.
National Guard Bureau -- Alabama National Guard Counterdrug Program, Drug Demand Reduction, Montgomery, Ala.
DoD also announced that Douglas County Young Marines, Colo., is the recipient of the 2008 Secretary of Defense Fulcrum Shield Award. The Fulcrum Shield Award recognizes the military-associated youth program that best articulates an anti-drug message.
Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England will present the awards Oct. 24, 2008, during an 11 a.m. EDT ceremony at the Pentagon auditorium.
