Secretary of Defense Robert Gates will host a ceremony dedicating the new Pentagon Humanitarian corridor, Tuesday, May 19 at 2:30 p.m. EDT, on the second floor of A-ring, between corridors six and seven.

The corridor exhibits 27 dioramas that commemorate significant historical joint service humanitarian efforts, including Mt. Pinatubo Eruption (1991), Yellowstone Fires (1988), Blizzard of '78; Frequent Wind (Evacuation of Vietnam, 1975); Hurricane Camille (1969); Operation Safe Haven (Evacuation of Hungarian Refugees post-Revolution, 1956-1957); and Berlin Airlift (1948-1949). The exhibits display both loaned artifacts and artifacts permanently donated to the collection.

Journalists without a Pentagon building pass will be picked up at the River Entrance only. Plan to arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to the event; have proof of affiliation and two forms of photo identification. Please call (703) 697-5131 for escort into the building.
