The Department of Defense announced today a new media service that provides news outlets and the public with broadcast-quality audio of breaking news made by the secretary of defense and other top Pentagon officials.
The audio service, known as DoD Audio Clips, allows radio stations, U.S. forces and the public worldwide to download timely sound bytes of department officials directly from the Defense Department Web site, http://www.defenselink.mil/audio . Broadcast-quality audio files on a variety of subjects are posted shortly after events in the Pentagon Briefing Room. Files include sound bytes of newsworthy items, ready-for-air packages and links to written transcripts and speakers’ bios. Items offered will often be of interest to specific regional audiences and military communities which may not be carried by commercial network audio feeds.
Audio files and detailed instructions are available at http://www.defenselink.mil/audio. Visitors to the site may sign up to receive automatic e-mails highlighting new files available.
