            The Department of Defense announced today that it will co-host with the Department of National Defence Canada the NATO-sponsored, 2011 North American Technology Demonstration (NATD) Oct. 26-27 in Ottawa.

            The NATD offers members of the operational and armaments communities of NATO, other allies and law enforcement communities the opportunity to understand the latest technology in the field of non-lethal capabilities. Showcased non-lethal weapons expected include: vehicle/vessel stopping and arresting systems; directed energy systems; blunt force weapons; multi-sensory grenades; human electromuscular incapacitation devices; acoustic hailers; bright lights; dazzling lasers; personnel restraining systems; point/area/marking munitions and combination platforms and control systems.

            The Oct. 26 event at the Ottawa Convention Center and at the Demo/Connaught Ranges on Oct. 27 is open to the media.
