Media who wish to cover Force Protection Equipment Demonstration IV (FPED IV) at Quantico Marine Corps Base, Va., May 6-8, should pre-register on line now at www.fped4.org . [link no longer available] FPED IV will bring about 500 vendors and organizations with more than 2,500 items of force protection equipment to be viewed by attendees from the Department of Defense, other federal agencies, state and local law enforcement departments, and other first responders. The purpose of this demonstration is to show leaders and decision-makers what is available to help meet their force protection needs.
The event will have 20 categories of equipment that include blast and ballistics mitigation, night vision and optics, barriers, individual protective equipment, non-lethal weaponry, chemical/biological detection, explosive detection and cargo inspection devices, biometrics and others. In addition, range demonstrations of blast, ballistics and non-lethal products will be conducted.
FPED IV is sponsored by the Joint Staff's Directorate of Operations for Combating Terrorism; the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics; Department of Energy; National Institute of Justice; Transportation Security Administration; and the Technical Support Working Group.
