The Defense Department Advisory Committee on Women in the Services (DACOWITS) will visit military installations and meet with servicemembers in the Hampton Roads, Va., area from Feb. 25-27, 2003. Members will receive command briefings on missions, demographics and installation-specific issues and will tour the installations to get familiar with military equipment and assets. They will meet with military women and men in focus groups to better understand special concerns relating to women's health care, women's retention and the effects of deployment.

At the end of the year, DACOWITS will report to the Department of Defense on the issues raised during these visits and on additional research gathered through business meetings, partnerships with existing organizations and published reports and surveys.
