Gen. Lester L. Lyles, the commander of the U.S. Air Force Materiel Command, will pay tribute to Memorial Day during pre-race activities for the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 26, at 10:45 a.m. CST at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Lyles' remarks will remember and honor all those who gave their lives for our freedom.
In addition to Lyles' commentary, a B-2 Spirit flyover by the 509th Bomb Wing, Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., will precede the race. A group of 50 Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Noble Eagle veterans and 50 members of the Indiana National Guard, Air National Guard and Reserve will be guests of the Rahal Racing Team at the Indianapolis 500 Race Day Parade and Indianapolis 500.
Lyles will also join in the Indianapolis 500 Race Day Parade on Saturday, May 25. There will be opportunities for interviews/photos with Lyles May 25 at the Tyndall Armory from 10 to 11:30 a.m., prior to the start of the parade.
