DuBois to Open 2002 DoD Conservation Conference

Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Installations and Environment Ray DuBois will deliver the opening speech at the Department of Defense Conservation Conference, June 18 at 8 a.m. PDT at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, Tucson, Ariz.

The annual conference focuses on the challenges and opportunities for the Defense Department to better integrate environmental conservation and military training. DuBois will speak on DoD's plans to balance environmental conservation while supporting realistic military training. Judge Craig Manson, assistant secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks, Department of the Interior, will discuss opportunities for partnership between the DoD and the Department of Interior on ways to sustain military readiness and promote conservation.

Conference highlights include discussions on DoD's Readiness and Range Preparedness Initiative, and special events on endangered species, natural and cultural resources, and historic buildings.
