Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld will host an honor cordon to welcome Minister of Defense Rudolf Scharping, of the Federal Republic of Germany, to the Pentagon at 9:40 a.m. EST, Thursday, March 8, 2001. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance. There will not be a media availability following the cordon. Media must be at the River Entrance no later than 9:20 a.m. EST for the cordon.
Later on Thursday, Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld will host an honor cordon to welcome NATO Secretary General Lord George Robertson to the Pentagon at 11:35 a.m. EST. The cordon will be held on the steps of the Pentagon River Entrance. Media must be at the River Entrance no later than 11:15 a.m. EST. for the cordon.
Rumsfeld and Robertson will conduct a media availability at 12:45 p.m. EST in the DoD Briefing Room 2E781. Media without Pentagon credentials must be at the River Entrance no later than 12:30 p.m. for escort to the DoD Briefing Room.
Because of these events the regular Thursday DoD briefing has been canceled.
