Deputy Secretary Wolfowitz and General Myers Update on QDR
Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul D. Wolfowitz and Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Richard B. Myers will provide an update on the Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR), tomorrow, Aug. 8, 2001, at 11:30 a.m. EDT, in the DoD Briefing Room, Pentagon 2E781.
The National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal 2000 calls for a comprehensive examination of the national defense strategy, force structure, force modernization plans, infrastructure, budget plan, and other elements of the defense program with a view toward determining and expressing the defense strategy of the United States. The QDR process addresses these issues, integrating the results of a variety of studies and the views of the senior military and civilian leadership in the QDR process.
The Quadrennial Defense Review report is congressionally mandated and due to Congress, Sept. 30, 2001.
