CIVIL WORKS - NON MILITARY
Schwab Co.*, Winona, Minn., was awarded on Oct. 20, 1998, a $50,000 increment as part of a $6,506,812 firm-fixed-price, multi-year construction contract for Lock 5A Lockwork Stage 2, major maintenance at the Mississippi River. The project consists of furnishing all plant, labor, material, and equipment necessary to complete a lock rehabilitation program at Lock and Dam 5A, and involves construction of a new central control station building. Included is replacing lock electrical systems and upgrading other numerous smaller features of the lock facility in strict accordance with plans and specifications. Work will be performed in Fountain City, Wisc., and is expected to be completed by Aug. 30, 2000. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were 72 bids solicited on Sept. 11, 1998, and three bids were received. The contracting activity is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul, Minn. (DACW37-99-C-0002).
Harper/Neilsen Dillingham Builders, San Diego, Calif., is being awarded option item 001, a modification to task order 4, at $8,780,000, contract number N68711-97-D-8819. This contract is for demolition of existing buildings, and the construction of a four story Bachelor Enlisted Quarters building and a common building at Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Ariz. Work will be performed in Yuma, Ariz., and is expected to be completed November 1999. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southwest Division, San Diego, Calif., is the contracting activity.
