ARMY

Alliant Techsystems Inc., Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant, New Brighton, Minn., is being awarded a $63,389,426 modification to firm-fixed-price, multi-year contract DAAA09-99-C-0020, for 35,280 cartridges (M831A1 TP-T, 120 mm) and 87,998 cartridges (M865 TPDSCS-T, 120 mm). A portion of these cartridges are a foreign military sale for the country of Egypt. The M831A1 is the high explosive training round and the M865 is the kinetic energy training round. Both rounds have inert projectiles and both are used in live-fire training for M1A1 and M1A2 Abrams tanks. The contractor is also performing the effort of container handling for providing the PA116 metal containers (palletized) the cartridges are shipped in and the Technical Data Package Maintenance effort. Work will be performed at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Middletown, Iowa, and is expected to be completed by Oct. 31, 2004. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There were two bids solicited on Sept. 1, 1998, and two bids were received. The U.S. Army Armament, Munitions & Chemical Command, Rock Island, Ill., is the contracting activity.

PRIMEX Technologies, St. Petersburg, Fla., is being awarded a $58,893,830 modification to firm-fixed-price, multi-year contract DAAA09-99-C-0021, for 35,280 cartridges (M831A1 TP-T, 120 mm) and 87,999 cartridges (M865 TPDSCS-T, 120 mm). The M831A1 is the high explosive training round and the M865 is the kinetic energy training round. AIR FORCE

McDonnell Douglas Corp., Berkeley, Mo., is being awarded a $162,642,566 firm-fixed-price contract to provide for 8,163 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) kits broken down as follows: 5,073 applicable to the Air Force MK-84 2000 pound bomb, 2,174 applicable to the Air Force BLU-109 2000 pound bomb, and 916 applicable to the Navy BLU-109 2000 pound bomb.

JDAM is a strap-on kit with Inertial Navigation System/Global Positioning System capability that will provide an improved aerial delivery capability for existing 1000 and 2000 pound bombs. Expected contract completion date is Feb. 28, 2002. Solicitation issue date was Dec. 2, 1999. Air Armament Center, Eglin AFB, Fla., is the contracting activity (F08635-00-C-0032).

Aerojet General Corp., Sacramento, Calif., is being awarded a $49,156,651 (Not-to-Exceed) firm-fixed-price contract to provide for up to 75 Thrust Vector Systems to allow the SR-19 rocket motor to be utilized as Stage 1 for the HERA class target rocket booster system. Expected contract completion date is Feb. 18, 2005. Solicitation issue date was Oct. 25, 1999. Negotiation completion date was Feb. 7, 2000. Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles, Calif., is the contracting activity (F04701-00-D-8011).

NAVY

Newport News Shipbuilding, Newport News, Va., is being awarded a $100,048,576 modification to previously awarded contract N00024-98-C-2104 to exercise an option to provide advance planning, procurement, and construction for the CVN 77 aircraft carrier program. This modification brings the total value of the contract to $247,457,195. The contract also has one remaining option, which if exercised, will bring the total contract value to $346,133,076. Work will be performed in Newport News, Va., and is expected to be completed by December 2000. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Arlington, Va., is the Contracting Activity.

Nova Group/R. E. Staite, (a joint venture), Napa, Calif., is being awarded a $41,456,800 firm-fixed-price contract for construction of a carrier berthing wharf, a single-story warehouse, and a laydown building; demolition and removal of ferry landing pier; civil, mechanical and electrical utilities work; paving and site work; dredging; environmental mitigation; and all incidental related work at Naval Air Station, North Island. Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif., and is expected to be completed by March 2002. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured with 25 proposals solicited and five offers received. The Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southwest Division, San Diego, Calif., is the contracting activity (N68711-98-C-5408).

Rockwell Collins Government Systems, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is being awarded a $30,227,152 firm-fixed-price contract for Fiscal Year 2000 production requirement for 447 AN/ARC-210 (V) electronic protection radio systems for various Navy aircraft (158 RT-1556B/ARC and 289 RT-1794(C)/ARC radios and ancillary equipment). This requirement includes engineering, technical, and logistic production support services. Work will be performed in Cedar Rapids, Iowa (80%), and Coralville, Iowa (20%), and is expected to be completed by December 2001. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity (N00019-00-C-0115).

Adaptive Digital Systems, Inc., Irvine, Calif., is being awarded a $15,459,443 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for the procurement of 168 RD-674 (B) digital voice recorders for the U.S. Navy and 277 RD-681 (A) digital voice loggers for the U.S. Coast Guard, including individual ancillary components. These units will be installed in Navy and Coast Guard ship and shore stations. Work will be performed in Irvine, Calif., and is expected to be completed by February 2001. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured by an electronic request for proposals; one offer was received. The Naval Air Warfare Center, St. Inigoes, Md., is the contracting activity (N00421-00-D-0344).
