Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics and Surveillance Systems, Moorestown, N.J., is being awarded a $9,100,000 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract for the conversion of a phased array radar into a National Weather Radar Testbed (NWRT) for use at the National Severe Storms Laboratory, Norman, Okla. The phased array radar is currently installed at the Aegis Combat Systems Center, Wallops Island, Va. Work will be performed in Moorestown, N.J., and is expected to be completed by May 2003. Contract funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was not competitively procured. Recon/Optical, Inc., Barrington, Ill., is being awarded a $4,989,000 firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-incentive-fee contract for the procurement of one high altitude sensor for the engineering manufacturing development phase of the Shared Reconnaissance Pod Program (SHARP). In addition, the contractor is responsible for the engineering and integration of the high altitude sensor into the SHARP and for logistics support of the sensors. Work will be performed in Barrington, Ill (94%), Indianapolis, Ind. (3%) and China Lake, Calif./Patuxent River, Md. (3%), and is expected to be completed by October 2003. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured through an electronic request for proposal and three offers were received. The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md. is the contracting activity (N00019-01-C-0105).
