CONTRACTS
AIR FORCE
General Electric Aircraft Engines, Lynn, Mass., is being
awarded a $6,446,900 cost plus fixed fee contract to provide for
engineering services in support of the Component Improvement
Program for the J85-8 engine applicable to the T-38 aircraft and
the J85-21 engine applicable to the F-5 aircraft. These services
will include resolution of flight safety and service-related
problems, maintenance of engine specification performance,
periodic engine inspections, and reduction of logistic support
cost through enhanced parts durability. Contract is expected to
be completed December 1997. Contract funds will not expire at
the end of the current fiscal year. There were 14 firms
solicited and one proposal received. Solicitation began
September 1996; negotiations were completed December 1996. This
effort supports foreign military sales to Bahrain, Brazil,
Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Singapore,
Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, and Tunisia. San Antonio Air
Logistics Center, Kelly AFB, Texas, is the contracting activity
(F41608-97/C-0209).
ARMY
Mid Eastern Builders, Chesapeake, Va., is being awarded a
$7,170,000 firm-fixed-price contract for construction of a 1000
member U.S. Army Reserve Center at Fort Eustis, Va. Work will be
performed at Fort Eustis, Va., and is expected to be completed by
March 30, 1999. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the
current fiscal year. There were 92 bids solicited on Nov. 13,
1996, and eight bids received. The contracting activity is the
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk, Va. (DACA65-97-C-0029).
Lockheed Martin Vought Systems Corp., Grand Prairie, Texas,
is being awarded a $72,535,653 increment of a $30,450,000
modification to a $160,895,220 basic with FY 98 IOT&E option of
$19,409,780 cost-plus-incentive-fee contract for the continued
development of the Army Tactical (Army TACMS) Missile System
Block II Guided Missile and Launching Assembly. Work will be
performed in Grand Prairie, Texas, and is expected to be
completed by July 31, 1999. This is a sole-source contract
initiated on Oct. 28, 1994. The contracting activity is the U.S.
Army Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, Ala. (DAAH01-95-C-0001).
CIVIL WORKS - NON MILITARY
S.B. Ballard, Inc., Norfolk, Va., is being awarded a
$550,000 increment as part of a $9,734,608 cumulative-total-firm-
fixed-price contract for beach erosion control and hurricane
protection project, constructing a seawall at 43rd street to 58th
street, Virginia Beach, Va. Work will be performed in Virginia
Beach, Va., and is expected to be completed by Dec. 11, 1997.
Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal
year. There were 73 bids solicited on Dec. 5, 1996, and 14 bids
received. The contracting activity is the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers, Norfolk, Va. (DACW65-97-C-0030).
