Command Decision The art on a B-29 Superfortress heavy bomber on display at the National Museum of the Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, Aug. 21, 2018, replicates the nose art on “Command Decision,” a Korean War-era 28th Bomb Squadron aircraft that became famous for shooting down five Chinese MiG-15 jet aircraft, unofficially making it a bomber “ace.” The original B-29 was named after a popular 1948 film about the difficult decisions and heavy casualties of bomber operations over Europe in World War II and the crew’s belief that some of these decisions were made with a flip of a coin.
