Medal Presentation

Joseph and Ruth Newlin, the parents of Marine Corps Private 1st Class Melvin E. Newlin, receive the Medal of Honor on his behalf from President Richard M. Nixon during a White House ceremony, March 18, 1969. Pfc. Newlin was killed in Vietnam on July 4, 1967, while defending his platoon.
