Secretary of Defense Ash Carter has announced the following Department of Defense Senior Executive Service appointments and assignments:
Karen L. Hughto has been appointed to the Senior Executive Service and assigned as deputy general counsel, Washington Headquarters Services and Pentagon Force Protection Agency, Washington Headquarters Services, Office of the General Counsel, Washington, District of Columbia. Hughto previously served as senior level attorney advisor, Washington Headquarters Services, Office of the General Counsel, Washington, District of Columbia.
Stephen C. Hedger has been appointed as the assistant secretary of defense for legislative affairs in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Legislative Affairs) in the Pentagon, Washington, District of Columbia. Hedger previously served as the principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for legislative affairs with the Office of the Secretary of Defense in Washington, District of Columbia.
Adrienne N. Schweer has been appointed to the Senior Executive Service and continues to serve as special assistant to the secretary of defense for protocol, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Washington, District of Columbia.
Reassignments
Andrew S. Haeuptle has been assigned as the director, Management, Policy and Analysis Directorate in the Office of the Deputy Chief Management Officer in Arlington, Virginia. Haeuptle previously served as the director, Management, Requirements and Analysis Division in the Office of the Deputy Chief Management Officer in Arlington, Virginia.
Dr. Zachary M. Mears has been assigned as the deputy chief of staff, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Washington, District of Columbia. Mears will also continue to perform the duties of his previous position as special assistant to the deputy secretary of defense (chief of staff), Office of the Deputy Secretary of Defense, Washington, District of Columbia.
