Four U.S. Servicemembers Killed in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON, March 12, 2006 Four U.S. servicemembers were killed today in an improvised explosive device attack in Afghanistan.
The servicemembers were traveling in an up-armored Humvee in the Pech valley in Kunar province when the incident occurred. The patrol was conducting route-clearance operations to keep the road open to civilian and military traffic.
No further details were available. The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
