U.S. Soldiers Discover Bodies in Vehicle; Iraqi Civilian Killed

WASHINGTON, March 8, 2006 – Multinational Division Baghdad soldiers found the bodies of 18 murder victims inside an abandoned vehicle at about 9:30 p.m. yesterday in Baghdad's Mansour district, military officials in Iraq reported.

Soldiers from 1st Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, received a report about a suspicious vehicle on the side of the road and found the bodies while conducting a search.

In a separate incident, an Iraqi civilian died at about 7:15 a.m. today when he failed to obey traffic warnings to stop his vehicle and collided with a Multinational Division Baghdad Bradley fighting vehicle in eastern Baghdad. Iraqi police, fire department personnel and an ambulance crew responded to the scene of the accident.
