Coalition Details Recent Casualties

WASHINGTON, May 3, 2004 – U.S. Central Command and Combined Joint Task Force 7 news releases provided details on U.S. casualties in Iraq today and over the weekend.

One 1st Armored Division soldier was killed and two others were wounded today when they were attacked with small-arms fire south of Baghdad. The soldiers were providing security at a weapons cache found in a May 2 raid.

Five sailors and one soldier assigned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force were killed May 2 in an indirect-fire attack on a military installation in Iraq's Anbar province.

Two Task Force Baghdad soldiers were killed and one was wounded May 2 when a roadside bomb struck their convoy.

A Task Force Danger soldier was killed and 10 others were wounded during a suspected improvised explosive device and small-arms attack near Kirkuk May 2.

Two soldiers were killed and six were wounded when their convoy was attacked May 1 by rocket-propelled grenades and small arms.

A Task Force Olympia soldier died from wounds following a May 1 rocket- propelled grenade attack on a convoy south of Qarrayah. Another soldier was wounded in the attack and transported to the 67th Combat Support Hospital in Mosul.

Two U.S. soldiers were killed and six were wounded when their convoy was attacked May 1 by RPGs and small arms south of Amarah.
