Military Photographer Contest Under Way

WASHINGTON, Nov. 27, 1996 The 1996 Military Photographer of the Year competition is under way. Enlisted personnel from all services, including Coast Guard, holding the skill identifier of photographer, journalist, photojournalist, videographer or equivalent are invited to submit their best photographic or video work for this annual competition.
A panel of distinguished photographers and videographers from the national news media will judge entries still and motion.
Categories for the still division are Combat Camera, Picture Story, News, Feature, Portrait/Personality, Illustrative Photography, Pictorial, Sports and Portfolio.
Motion division categories are Combat Camera, Uncontrolled Action, Controlled Action, Editing, Postproduction Editing and Portfolio.
All entries except those in the Sports and Pictorial categories must have been produced for military purposes and depict an aspect of the military during the competition year. All entries must be received at the Defense Information School, Fort Meade, Md., by Feb. 15, 1997. The competition is open to all active duty, Reserve and National Guard enlisted personnel.
