Where Reservists Turn for Help

WASHINGTON, June 9, 1997 – Employer problems? The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve has a network of more than 4,300 volunteer ombudsmen. They're trained to act as mediators between reservists and their civilian bosses, and to provide information about civilian job rights.

To contact an ombudsman in your area, call (800) 336-4590.

Information about the obmudsman program and other National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve programs is also posted on the committee's computer web page. The address is http://www.ncesgr.osd.mil.

"We want to impress upon guardsmen and resevists that they're not alone," said Ed Kelly, a retired Army chief warrant officer and volunteer ombudsman in New Jersey. "There's somebody they can call on."
