Rate Hike Set for Family Dental Care

WASHINGTON, June 16, 1998 – The monthly premium for the TRICARE active duty family member dental plan will increase slightly Aug. 1.

The rate for a single enrollment will increase from $7.64 a month to $8.09. Family enrollment premiums will rise from $19.09 to $20. July leave and earnings statements will reflect the premium increases, according to TRICARE officials.

United Concordia Companies, Inc., which provides active duty family dental care under contract to DoD, requested the hikes to cover expected program cost increases. Monthly premiums for family dental care represent 40 percent of the total premium cost for the plan -- DoD picks up the rest.
